SPARK is a Kesgrave based charity which has for many years helped to provide, develop and support numerous teams, groups and organisations in Kesgrave. This may be starting up from scratch, buying new equipment or funding existing activities in Kesgrave.
SPARK raises all its funds from the 2nd Stop Charity Shop in Kesgrave, the shop relies on donations and more information can be found at www.facebook.com/2ndstop
The shop is managed by Lyndsey, assisted by Shelagh and many volunteers, and without their hard work SPARK could not help so many people in Kesgrave.
This year SPARK has made grants to many different organisations based in Kesgrave with the funds being used for a variety of purposes.
For example:-
Kesgrave High School – The re-surfacing of their multi-sport area has been completed with new netball pitches and tennis courts being clearly marked out. The school has also been able to build in post holes for the tennis nets and netball posts, which now have cushions around the posts to help with safety.
Assistant Head Teacher Tim Legg and colleague Chris Finch showed the new area to SPARK representatives Molly Arnot and Nick Francis (see picture). SPARK is always pleased to see the results of grants made and helping the High School shows how the wider community benefit.
While at the school a visit was made to the Sensory Garden which had been part funded by SPARK, it was re-assuring to see how it has prospered and continues to provide a place for students to relax and discuss matters or grow plants as a way to unwind (see picture).
To celebrate the Kings Coronation SPARK offered to help purchase a commemorative bench, tree or similar for the schools and nurseries in Kesgrave. The Humpty Dumpty Playgroup purchased a bench for children to use when outside, the pictures show that it was a success.

Three Bears Playgroup – Friendship seat/arbour
SPARK would like to remind those who run or organise activities in Kesgrave that help with funding is still available from SPARK, even if you have had a grant before and subject to certain criteria.
