2nd Stop Charity Shop

Coronavirus UPDATE

The 2nd Stop Charity Shop re-opened on Monday 12th April 2021.  We look forward to meeting familiar customers and hopefully some new ones, and although we have been receiving donations during lockdown your continued generosity is always welcome.

Further information can be found on the 2nd Stop Facebook page where you can also contact the manager.  Please do not leave your donations outside the shop door.

Introduction
2nd Stop was set up by SPARK (SPort and Recreation in Kesgrave) and the 1st Kesgrave Scout Group in the summer of 1999 in a shop unit of the local Kesgrave Tesco store. It benefited each charities fund raising by selling quality second-hand goods at reasonable prices. Setting up the shop was helped by the manager of Tesco at Martlesham offering the shop unit rent free so that more money could be made for both organisations.

The 1st Kesgrave Scout Group has now finished paying for the new HQ and as from 2008 Tesco also started charging for the rent for the property. The 1st Kesgrave Scout Group therefore relinquished all interest in the 2nd Stop Shop as off July 2008 apart from receiving spare clothes and bric-a-brac to run its monthly jumble sales.

The Team
There is a dedicated team in the background who run the shop and take the goods from the people of Kesgrave, price them and put them in the shop ready to be sold. There is also a sales team that sells the goods. Everybody who works in the shop (apart from the manager) or behind-the-scenes does this free of charge out of the kindness of their hearts.
